A Moment in Drawing

by TJ

The creative process stirs itself into a unique mix in the mind and spirit of every artist. When KH shared her poem for the district writing contest I recognized my own internal struggle between creative angst and elation. She captured it. The feeling and the poetry award.

A Moment in Drawing

Will it appear as it does in my mind

I focus in a silent atmosphere

Where everything is gone but the

.

Paper

Pencil

And me

.

The paper is as crisp and white as ice

The pencil is as sharp as King Arthur’s sword

And I’m focused, picturing the drawing that will form

.

My pencil is uncontrollably racing across the paper

Frustrations fill my mind at the smallest mistake

My eraser smears as I try to cover any recollection of the marks

.

An image is appearing on the page

My arm is screeching and curling with pain

As I add the finishing touches

.

My eyes can see the image I love
