Barefoot Days Ahead

by TJ

azalea

I went outside to water these flowers. In my bare feet.

On the deckMy daughter noticed, which must mean I don’t do that very often. How uptight I have become.

I remember summer feet on hot blacktop going to the mailbox for my Seventeen magazine. Seventeen is gone, but the joy of sunshine on my bare feet isn’t.

I sat awhile on my deck and enjoyed the moment. Then I laid on my back for more heat on my face.

My children came to find me. “Are you OK? We thought you had a heart attack.”

Clearly, I need to shed the shoes and the decrepit persona more often.

This is well written and brought a smile to my face. I understand how easy it is to forget how to shed the shoes and decrept persona in more ways than one. Keep up the great posts.

Well I don’t know about you, but as I age my feet hurt if I have my shoes off for too long. I think my skin has become thinner. But that’s funny how your kids thought you had a heart attack!

Too funny. Glad you can kick back a little. I shed my shoes as often as possible. My husband won’t give my dirty feet a massage, but I’m comfortable all day long!

*sigh*… I could almost feel the warmth and the ground under my feet as I read this. I just may go barefoot the next warm day we have. (Today it’s cool and rainy. Not so tempting.) :-)

Beautiful–both the flowers and the perspective. Thank you.

Yep, great idea to keep it fresh, mix it up by laying on decks and have your kids wonder what’s mom going to do next? I need to let my hair down more, too, walk barefoot, etc.

PS: I burned my barefeet way too often running to my mailbox in the summer for my 17 magazine, too. Love that memory!

Why do we sometimes become more uptight when we age? I need to go barefoot outside sometime soon :) !!
