Redefining Perseverance

Normally, I would define perseverance from the dictionary:

a  steady persistence in adhering to a course of action, a belief, or a purpose;
or steadfast singleness of purpose, as in the pursuit of a goal,
despite difficulties or obstacles

My son nudges a porcupine toward the camera on a family bike ride

This week,  perseverance may be better defined from experience:

Continuing to go on, even if no one is nudging you forward.
